I am a fine art artist and art instructor at University of Missouri St. Louis. As an Asian artist from Taiwan, I am always looking for the personal style that I could present my character with eastern painting technique. My curiosity about different media made me combining oil paints on wet media as watercolor and ink to create rich textures on rice paper in figures. The visual reminder of the illusion is taking place on a flat surface, creating a visual complexity that engages the viewer on different effects of space.
For my work I have taken the dialogue between representation and abstraction to express my ideas. And I have combined 'real' and imaginary elements into unified composition that address the entire pictorial space of the page. |
